Rusted and Forgotten {52 Photos Project}

Once probably a useful bridge over the water to the park, it now sits in disrepair, barely used for its original purpose.  I loved its worn beauty, the crumbling concrete, rusted ironwork, weeds growing up from its surface.

Living in the rust belt, I could have photographed most of my surroundings for this prompt.  So much faded rusted forgotten beauty.

Taken as part of the 52 Photos Project.

  1. Look at those curves - so beautiful! I wonder about the stories that bridge could tell - the lovers that held hands as they walked across, the people that leaned against the railing as they looked out into the water thinking about life.

    Great photo!

  4. The beautiful swirls caught my eye right when I saw them on the 52 Photos site. beautiful. I also wonder about the stories that old things can tell. Like the shoes in your other picture.
    I once lived in Australia and made a very good friend there. She gave me her shoes as a farewell. I still have them and think of the paths she has walked with them.

  9. I agree - what elegant curves! It is a shame to be loosing so much beauty and history due to lack of funds. Our city keeps expanding but what if that money when into restoring the older, historical part of town? As if our cultural identity is also crumbling away due to neglect ...

  11. I'm glad I clicked on the photo to see the enlargement — beautiful colors and gorgeous swoop, they just don't make bridges like they used to. PERFECT response to this week's prompt!

  12. The rust on the iron work and the reflections of the water on the bridge are just lovely. So sad that it's no longer being used.
